This tabernacle is produced of a wood construction. The side panels are created using a pressed metal technique and then the entire piece has been gessoed and a pure gold leaf finish was applied. The inside Angels and the representation of the Lamb of God are done in oil paint. The posts on either side of the doors are pivot hinges and the inside is finished off with a red velvet lining.
The Processional Cross, designed by New Guild for the new Holy Family Chapel at Penn State’s main campus, is done in wrought iron and oak. The design is gothic in nature, done in hand worked iron and oak tau cross. The cross has a wrought iron inlay with enameled copper jewels at each terminus. The scale of the cross is based on the refurbished wood carved corpus.
New Guild Studio has been in the liturgical arts field since 1991. Over the years, the company of four - David and Suzann Miriello and David and Mary Korns - have completed numerous sacred art projects that range in scope and scale from the design and production of a single chalice to the renovation of an entire church.
From the beginning, sacred art has brought form and fulfillment to mans quest
for the divine. Rendered by the right hands, familiar motifs and figures have
the power to move people beyond the practical concerns of the world,
awakening in them the possibilities of the eternal.
