Since 1991, New Guild Art and Design Studio has completed sacred art projects that range in scope from the design and production of a single chalice to the renovation of an entire church. We specialize in, but are not limited to, many different original religious art forms. One primary field of expertise lies in the production of liturgical paintings, both large murals and small-scale work, and hand written traditional byzantine iconography, painted with artist’s oil colors on canvas or wood panel. Church appointments and furnishings, that can include altars, tabernacles, sanctuary lamps and baptismal fonts, are custom designed and produced, ornately or simply, from salvaged materials or new. Distinctive icon screens, donor memorials, columbarium design and fabrication are other important specialties. Figurative or symbolic leaded, stained glass, singularly designed and hand-built, is another important segment of our craft. Hand-worked relief sculpture, symbolic or realistic, as large scale mural, or small embellishment to our sacred furniture and appointments, are artistic elements that we provide. Life-size, representational sculpture is another facet of our range. Painted ornamentation, gold leaf decoration, copper enamels, and many more applications are available. With few exceptions, we design and produce all of this work in our Braddock, Pennsylvania Studio.

Over the years, we have developed an extensive knowledge of traditional church design. That learned wisdom, in combination with our artistry, enables us to sensitively reflect your worship style and devotional requirements. We have worked with parishes throughout the United States and Canada. With regular, extensive communication, we are able to produce uniquely beautiful work that is designed specifically for the intended setting.

New Guild has intentionally remained small. While producing our work by hand is most personally gratifying, it also ensures that our client will receive the best result, as we are personally responsible for its quality. Following this work ethic has permitted us to maintain both artistic and project integrity from inception to ending. For large renovations and construction projects, we have organized a team of experienced craftsmen and professionals capable of translating our designs.
